MIKHAIL LEZIN

"Quagga mussel"
Year:  2014
Country:  Russia
City: Togliatty
Label:
Format:  net
Tracks:  1
Time:  60 min.
Genre:  electronic
Style:   Noise   Ambient   Experimental

Here’s a new recording from Mikhail Lezin, on sincope. Its no packaged beacuse is a virtual release, a net release. But there is inside. doesn´t matter the packaged. The first and only one track has a very long time to developing an lisergic experimental / industrial / ambient and after (in fact, is the first track in order to appearence) there is a mini-track with just 5 minutes of strange and rare drone / noise.  The second track, “Quagga mussel II”, is a series of short noisy sections which hit hard and fast. Some of these pieces are very short indeed, others stretch out a bit longer. The track opens with some serious low end throb, and from there on Mikhail Lezin use noises approach to their tools and sounds. So, whilst there is a strong leaning on primitive electronic sounds, they also utilise ambient sounds, old-school industrial sounds, strong metallic beats, junk noise, dirty thrash sounds, drones and radio spew (or something similar to my ear). These are all combined in somewhat lo-fi collages, sometimes with a reined-in clarity - the panning and “cleaner” lines of the first section, or the pounding footsteps over background industrial - and sometimes in an overwhelming boiling mass. The overall sound is lo-fi, but theres enough attention to high and low frequency precision to show that Mikhail Lezin is not “cheap” noise-as-skree merchants - some of the bass elements, in particular, are monolithic. The several albums I listened to, this one is perhaps the more close to the dark industrial atmosphere. The cover is amost black... like the music.   9 / 10

Label:  Kubotrop
Format:  net

Time:  35 min.
Style:  HNW

We are not dealing with the hyper static harsh noise wall, but rather with that harsh noise wall with slight alterations, slight changes that only the author knows how and when to put them and the listener, you brutal transmit that feeling of being right in the middle of the larger, devastating and destructive Tornado imaginable. Tornado say because what they remember these two tracks, is just this, a destructive natural phenomena and an incalculable strong, when they happen, put human beings, to all mankind, kneeling to remind you that Nature and only the Nature, still rule on this planet, although it may seem otherwise. There are dozens of HNW projects, but few get as precisely the fact move you in the middle of Tsunami, Volcano or Earthquake, Storm or called as you want. Mikhail has other projects Lezin noise-rock, psychedelia-rock, ambient, drone, etc.... but when concentrated and makes WALL, WALL is called totally impassable, petrified and unbeatable.... Excellent. 9 / 10.

"Subsequently"
Year:  2013
Country:  Russia
Artist:  Mikhail Lezin
Label:  no
Format:  net
Tracks:  2
Style:  HNW

Great and very pleasant surprise to discover another great person giving reputation, good name and brighten the scene NOISE. This is the case of Mikhail Lezin born in Togliatti, Russia. A man who is a painter, cartoonist, poet, music producer and composer of NOISE, experimental, musique concrète, drone, ambient, field recordings, etc ... Here yes you can talk about authentic experimentation deeper and broader sense of the word. It is not playing with a couple of distortion pedals (which is good, not bad), but most projects may not move from there. This "Subsequently" may be of his most NOISE and even closer to HARSH NOISE WALL, in some fragments. But at all times has a little mesmerizing and bewitching power, you do not arrange a hirritante noise and unpleasant if not the opposite, a serious and deep NOISE attracts you and does not let go until the whole disk is over. Sometimes you get to feel a little rhythm, as if in those 20 minutes were really NOISE logic and rhythm, something about INDUSTRIAL maybe. The album has a lot of merit because Mikhail has done a great HARSH, has produced and recorded very well and has painted a cover up awesome. Edited by his own label "Kubotrop".   9 / 10
