MAAAA

MAAAA + K2
Year:    2011
Country:    Russia ,  Japan
Artist:    Serguei , Kusafuka Kimihide
Label:    Triangle rec.
Format:    CD
Tracks:    7
Time:    40 min.
Genre:    electronic
Style:               Harsh Noise

New compositions by a Warsaw couple and a Japanese surgeon are presented on this 50-minute album. The couple buzzes using the synthesizer Korg MS-20 and the Polivoks, and they clink damaging iron pieces and coil springs. Dr. Kusafuka keeps handling his stylus like a scalpel. Having decided not to employ metal garbage, he turns to extensive use of his analog synthesizer Korg MS-20 and the soft version of it for Nintdedo DS, creating loud and sharp pieces of work reminiscent of a surgical knife cutting flesh. All in all, be prepared for the heavy analog modulations, drilling feedback, rich bass, pulsations, biting high frequencies and the hazardous loudness of the record. Harsh Noise. Edition 300 copies in a package with 8-page booklet.

One of the most popular MAAA albums is this "Sampo distortion" which was recorded in 2008, mixed in 2009 but put on sale later in 2010. Nowadays I think doesn´t left physical CD's but you can to write to "Triangle Records" or HERE . Strictly musical we are in front of an only one track with 30 minutes of brutal and extreme electronic and junk harsh noise, which remind a classic "Japanoise" sound. Like other recordings, Sergei has mixed some short samples of his punk-rock band in the middle of the musical chaos. In the description we wrote Russia as his country but in fact he was born in Karelia, a region with own culture and language very similar to finish. Besides, some years ago the artist doesn´t live more in Russia but in Poland.

"Satan Edge"
Year:   2008
Country:   Russia
Region:   Petrozavodsk , Karelia
Artist:    Serguei
Label:   B-Rush rec.
Format:   cassette
Edition:   44 copies
Tracks:   1
Time:   44 min.
Genre:   electronic
Style:          Harsh Noise

Once I read somewhere Sergei (Maaaa) is "straight edge" so, he refuse to drink alcohol, to smoke, to have drugs, etc. The paradox and the good sense of humor (I supose) is the tittle of this release "Satan Edge" which was made by "B-Rush Records" an small russian label about experimental music. The MAAAA style here is almost like always: extreme and brutal, and also is an only one track. It was made in cassette format but nowadays is impossible to get it in this format, so you can downloader the mp3 here below.

 "Decay and Demoralization"
Year:    2010
Country:    Russia
City:    Petrozavlodsk , Karelia
Label:    Mind flare media rec.
Format:    CD
Tracks:    6
Time:    60 min.
Genre:    electronic
Style:          Harsh Noise

Special release of MAAAA's earlier work. The songs were originally released on a few extremely limited, homemade CD-Rs and cassettes. This is the band's first professional release. MAAAA "Decay and Demoralization" comes at you with 6 tracks well over 60 minutes in length. This stuff is harsh and without a doubt the most extreme band coming out of Poland's underground today. Decay and Demoralization includes tons of power electronics and bizarre recordings that create an odd, otherworldly atmosphere stuck in a white noise frenzy. Banging metal, shrieking, dying, the cover of this album should say it all. These 2 guys like to take the energy of punk rock, the optimism of straight edge phylosophy and fuse it with noise, creating a sound all their own. An excellent showcase of what's to come.

MAAAA + OUT OF FOCUS
Year:    2007
Country:    Russia
City:    Petrozavodsk , Karelia
Artist:    Serguei
Label:    Triangle  rec.
Format:    cassette
Edition:    1 copy
Tracks:    9
Time:    44 min.
Genre:    electronic
Style:          Harsh Noise

Metallic and dirty harsh noise with shit in the veins, these are the words I read somewhere. The little review also mentioned Industrial music but I sincerely don´t hear nothing to do with Industrial: nor sounds, neither rhythms. This is pure impact harsh noise, abstract, chaotic and disturbing. MAAAA offer as almost always an only one track of 33 minutes and the other project ( Out Of Focus) 8 tracks very short but in the same extreme and brutal style. OUT OF FOCUS is also a russian noise project and I suspect is already defunct according to Discogs info.
