PREGNANT BED is an alias used for 2 experimental musicians: Justin Marc Lloyd and Alex Steinmetz. Until now I knew Lloyd b-side project named PREGNANT BED but recently I discovered in the network this new name: PREGNANT BED. Is this a short lived b-side project with Alex Steinmetz? or an idea to during years in the future? I don't know at all but the fact is this recording is a continuation of his previous works, in terms of style, form and genre is concerned.

Packaging: This release comes in a hand-made protective envelope (not pictured). Inside, a smaller envelope, meant to be the actual release, while the protective envelope is intended to be what a sleeve would be for a record. The inside envelope is embellished with one 3D sticker, a warning sticker, and a hand-stamped embellishment with the title of the release on the front. Inside is a lot of art, including sewn fabric and paper, a stencil-painted CDr sleeve, and a red info sheet with track listing and credits in a typewriter/xerox-art style. "Rendering #1" limited to strictly 15. Info about the release: Track 1 is a short sound-collage intro featuring warped field recordings of abstract backpack acoustic guitar performance and an inket printed. Track 2 is the "main" track, representing the "Journey To 0.004" concept. It is a piece consisting of lengthy, focused and hypnotic sound collage made with home-made tape loops, free-form vocals, guitar, DIY electronics, electro-acoustic instruments and field recordings. It will be featured in a remastered form on the next Rendering, a c120 cassette, which will feature selected previously released material by Justin Marc Lloyd. Track 3 is a previously unreleased composition from the same sessions that birthed the "Comorbities" piece. Track 4 is the raw, live vocal source (consisting of heavily processed free-form vocals about basic Sociology) that was remixed and appears on Breakdancing Ronald Reagan + Pregnant Spore - Are Rock-Hard And Bodacious. Track 5 is a short piece recorded for a floppy disk release on Floppy Kick in a heavily bit-reduced version. Finally, track 6 is the first demo song ever recorded by anti-folk project Thief.

This cassette contains two loops that play simultaneously and seamlessly throughout. Stressed in the right ear is a loop, approximately 27 minutes in length, featuring late-night, delirious and minimal experimentation with the circuit board of a dod distortion/delay pedal and a metal fork. Stressed in the left is an 11-minute loop of experiments and tests done to a circuit-bent Ibanez distortion of some sort. Both recordings were made with a cell phone's internal mic right up against a quiet amp. Minimal mastering was done. Hand-painted tapes and cases, each unique. Comes with a grid artwork print, and a page from a vintage Hawaiian song book. Limited to only 4.

One of the most misterious, sinister and blackened JML recording is one under the False Flag project, and entitled "Corporatism" which ssound very deep, grave, with a really slow tempo and blackened landscapes. I read somewhere this was death industrial, riight.

INAPPROPRIATE KING LIVE
"The Almighty Mitten"
Year:    2013
Country:    US
City:    Chicago
Label:    Rainbow Bridge
Format:    cassette
Tracks:    15
Time:    57 min.
Genre:    electronic
Style:              Field Recordings

According to the artist this is: "A collection of mostly unrelated tracks from the archive, re-contextualized to fit a specific concept relating to a harsh, self-righteous criticism". This is a diverse experimental / noise b-side project that use to have long recordings. In this occasion almost an hour. The idea started in 2010 and since then there are 12 full lengh albums and 2 ep's. This project named with the strange name of INAPPROPRIATE KING LIVE is made up of noise, ambient, field recordings, conversations, many voices converging, placed in various environments, some close up and intimate, some group conversations and laughter, phone calls, phased snippets overheard. These phrases are poised against a rhythmic discourse made out of loops and delay-based repetitions. Correlating to the title of the cassette, it seems that project has, indeed, taken sound recordings from his life and rearranged them into a cryptic, but extremely interesting experiment. It´s noise but is not harsh but audible, even sympathetic.
