Here we go with the newest ZE PEKEÑO recording and we have to affirm with total security, we have good news about it. This time the musician seem to abandon his precedent works, perhaps too much experimental and strange, to come back to the roots and to make again that kind of wall of noise, quite slow, dense and full of textures. So this is nothing about static or no dynamic noise, but two long tracks (twelve minutes each one) full of changes of intensity, density and volume. Medium tempo, no voices and totally "violent", in the sense of the nature brutality. It remind our nature, our environement when it is angry and furious and show us its wild side through devastating effects such as: volcanoes, stroms, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc.  Total "magma" noise from the cataccombs of the earth... The release has made, recorded, distributed and promooted by the artist hymself, Cesc Fortuny. Enjoy the noise!

"ABISSAL" is the Catalan word that means abyss, the oceanic space among 3000 and 6000 meters of depth. Therefore it is a dark zone where the sunlight does not reach. The forest is opposed to the inhabited zone that is a tamed zone and therefore it has a double cultural meaning: a refuge or something strange and source of danger. The Celtic Druid and the medieval Witch have their natural habitat in the deepest of the forest since there they can be more nearby to the nature and also to be nearby to the magic. Registered, produced and masterized in Monistrol de Montserrat (Barcelona) during 2014. I just got this new recording ZE PEKENO and I could not resist writing the review after a few days and I'm writing right now, while listening to "Abissal". Behind ZE PEKENO there a man named Cesc Fortuny, which I think can be described as a true artist. I mean there is not an anonymous young who record 100 harsh noise works for 1 year and then disappears, but a man who has played more than 15 years in the band Entropia (death metal) and continues with other b-side projects such as O.D.I. (dark ambient) or under his real name Cesc Fortuny , with which he recorded folk music sung in their native language: catalan. Apart is also his role as a good writer of poetry, which was published in book format or in different spanish underground press. Returning to the new ZE PEKENO work, some new features like the fact that this is a only one conceptual track, and not 10 or 12 tracks without relation between them. The basic style is noise electronic based mixed with other more pleasant styles such as: space, ambient or drone. I personally very much reminds me some psychedelic and almost surreal fragments of the great film "2001 - Space Odyssey" (1969). That is a passing of psychedelic, surreal and colorful images reminiscent of outer space, undiscovered galaxies, planets, moons or directly to the visual effects that LSD can cause after eating it, the chemistry drug quintessential from the 60's decade. As always the author has put his work in different net-platforms avaible with no limits and totally free. Very good work.

This is the latest work from Cesc Fortuny, one of Spain’s most talented and dedicated noise sound artists. Over the past 8 years, he has released highly-regarded and quality works in his own label "Artilleria Pesada", and most recently on his own "La Nausea", as well as collaborating with like-minded explorers of sound such as Mixturizer, VRILnoise and other. On this new full-length net release, Cesc Fortuny turns his ear toward extended, hypnotic sounds, combining it with the jazz drums of JN Trio, own personal variety of tape-damaged concrète noise. On this album, overlapping sheets of lush choral organ and synthesizer meld into each other, rising and falling in consequence, sweeping and pulsing through all fields of frequency. Blanketed underneath is a subdued, purring storm of crumpled noises collage, where found sounds, microscopic textures, and incidental debris delicately scratch at the melody above with coarse piano shards. With his primitive electronics and careful pacing, Fortuny is able to inject an incredible amount of active detail and depth into a seemingly minimal body. Organ music (drums) is a hand-played piece of deep ambient, dark and powerful in their magnitude. Shifting back and forth between light and dark, the melodies fall into an emotive purgatory, with a consequential production of unusual overtones can feel both strangely disorienting and holy at the same time. The sound has a bold and tangible warmth via tape saturation, built with what seems like the amplified air of a cathedral-like space, making for a raw and enveloping listening experience.

ZÉ PEKEÑO debut on professional CD release, with nice booklet, texts and details. ZÉ PEKÑO abandoned here its usual digital or CDr format, to present us a really professional album. This is a churning, whirling, synth-driven exploration of chaos magick.  It is an album that touches on life, death, existence, spirituality, ecology, peace, inspiration and the futility of describing the indescribable, all the while drifting along in a storm cloud of sounds and textures. Although it feels like there is nothing on this album that will end up being a "classic harsh noise song" because hre there are also some fied recordings (birds, wind, etc.) and some doom metal influences, a personal favourite, or have any real lasting impact of any sort, it was all really enjoyable and immersive, especially after a few listens.  In a way, the experience of listening to this album mirrors the general experience of existence itself for most of us: there were some strange parts, some funny parts, some confusing parts, and some dark parts, but it was generally pretty entertaining while it lasted, and none of it really meant much to the world once it was all over.  The future will to say... but this is probably one of the best ZÉ PEKEÑO recording.
