This CD documents the evolution of a building. That building is Tramway, a unique arts space adapted from the ruin of Glasgow's tram depot. Tramway now stands ready to play a key role in the development of the performing and visual arts -  in all the varied forms for the 21st century. Renowned sound artists ZOVIET FRANCE have been commisioned by Tramway to produce a sound documentation of the building. By recording the sound emanating from Tramway during its redevelopment, the artists have created a work which transcends pure industrial noise to become a soundscape resonant with echoes from the past and vibrations from the future - literally, themes for artworks yet unmade.

"Digilogue"

Format:    LP , CD
Tracks:    5
Time:    30 min.
Genre:    electronic
Style:             Ambient            Experimental

Nice, calm and very quiet ZOVIET FRANCE album, released for two times by label "Soleimoon Recordings", firstly just on vinyl LP album and secondly on CD format with some changes on design, cover, back and general artwork (in 1998). According to Discogs and other related sources, this is experimental ambient music, but it could be true to affirm the most of the tracks here are closer to ambient than experimental or abstract music. Anyway this is a quite forgot album which I strongly recommend for those who like these kind of musical styles. A final result more than enough no doubt.

I was planning to post Popular Soviet Songs And Youth Music 3xCD When Mr Soma Informed Me That it is still available from Staalplaat, so I wont post it and here's the link to purchase esta excellent release, go here. Instead So here's Look Into me. On this album cycle and recycle They abstract noises Constantly changing into a texture, Composed of sonorous drones, grindings, scrapings, squeakings and so on. It's atmospheric without any obvious conjuring up imagery at all, thanks to the unreality of most of it the sounds used. Occasionally, the overtly machine-like nature of some sounds have a familiar feel. The LP Consist of the spacious and disjointed side-long Cair camouflet, backed by ten other tracks, and the companion Provides 45rpm record another three. Enjoyable and imaginative. This is the version released on Charrm 2xLP (CHARRMLP14) in 1990, and was released on CD Also (CHARRMCD14) by Charrm in the same year. (*NOTE = this review is from HERE ).

"Just an illusion"
Year:    1990
Country:    UK
City:    Newcastle
Label:    Staalplaat ‎
Format:    CD
Tracks:    14
Time:    45 min.
Genre:    electronic
Style:             Tribal           Experimental

Basically, this is lo-fi ambient and Industrial Mix with strong tribal rhythms. There is plenty of tribal percussion, chanting and eastern flavor to be Had, blended With drones, tape loops and samples typical of the industry groups of the 80's. The group dwells in melodic and rhythmic territories, lulling you in with some curious work instrumentation, atonal noise and atmospheric repetition providing the backbone. Clearly, some cuts are better than others. Just an Illusion works better as background music, rather than something to focus your undivided attention on. In context of all the other Zoviet France releases, there is probably not a lot to Distinguish this one special release. The majority, if not all of Their music is the industrial / dark ambient With An ethnic tinge, I do however I hold a soft spot for Just an Illusion. There are more well defined parts melodic, and rhythmic instances to latch onto Compared to some of the other stuff I have Heard. Which is NOT necessary the end all, be all of why I like Zoviet France, but Something That furthers my appreciation of the group.

"Originally released in 1985 on Singing Ringing / Red Rhino as a double cassette in a ceramic container with special packaging.  This was originally released in 1994 with a round felt piece on front and back of the set with a Soviet miltary pin holding the whole set together. The front round felt piece has the title of the release and the artist printed on it. The set contains 3 CDs With felt glued to the print side & the music on the other side, and 3 CDs With track information on the printed side & a high pitched tone long side on the other side.  Re-released in 1995 without felt glued onto the CDs, and without the extra "blank" CDs - there are two versions of esta release: one with two round brown felt stiff pieces and Soviet military pin as per the Original Color Staalplaat release scheme, and one with two round soft gray felt pieces with a different Soviet military pin.  Re-released again in 2004 (once again without felt glued onto the CDs, and without the additional "blank" CDs) with two round brown felt stiff pieces and Soviet military pin once again on in the same color scheme as the first Staalplaat issue. The discs Have different artwork than the previous CD releases, and CDs 1 & 2 are switched".  Possibly The most bizarre album packaging to make the list, the 1985 features two tapes discography Housed Within a ceramic pot cassette; With patterned ferns and boot prints. Within the pot, alongside the cassettes are two feathers Apparently taken from the radioactive Seascale Beach, printed American flag parody featuring the Soviet hammer and sickle, and a list of instructions on what to do With The collection of items, including "remove feathers by melting wax seal. Discard burnt cassettes. Retain box."
