ADEPTUS MECHANICUS is a noise musician from The Netherlands, which started of, in september 2014, by making (harsh) noise and experimental electronic music though the use of manipulated sounds. Does also produce glitch and circuit bent music under the name "√π-" and digital hardcore, speedcore and techno under the name "TNT". So it seem we are in front a perfect pupil who learnt all about Alec Empire, Atari Teenage Riot and in general all stuff made by "Digital Recordings". But apart breakcore or even harsh noise, this musician has also his softer side, his friendly side, strictly musical of course. With his b-side project named "√π-" the artist show us his talent to create music and sounds close to Ryoji Ikeda, Aoki Takamasa, Oval or even Pan Sonic. It would be impossible to write a review of "√π-"‘s latest album, "Binary code", without mentioning these three examples, so I might as well get it out of the way. While I have enjoyed Ryoji Ikeda for late years of my life, nowadays it is a new possible "rival" that I have greatly discovered. Hearing this album that is so similar in sound is refreshing, feeling like a familiar drug under a slightly different strain. Familiarity is usually a good thing and in the case when I instantly recognize one of my favorite bands, I am washed away with the same comfortable sensation. In fact, the surprise was bigger because I firstly listened to ADEPTUS MECHANICUS in his wild side, I mean in his extreme harsh noise side. His talent and hability has no doubt If he can to create both musical styles, without fall into mediocrity or a simple copy. A very good way to spend your free time could be listening to this "Binary code", despite other "√π-" releases are also good and have high quality.
