EON

"Aspectral"
Year:    2016
Country:    France
City:    Dijon
Artist:    Thoma
Label:    Phalaenia
Format:  cassette
Edition:    20 copies
Tracks:    2
Time:    60 min.
Genre:    electronic
Style:           ambient noise wall

One of the reasons I like this quite unknown project callled EON, is the fact it doesn't sound always the same, I mean, this is an electronic harsh noise project no doubt, but in each recording can to remind different and interestings sub-styles such as: ambient, drone, space, cosmic, etc. The EON discography is quite large, but at the moment I choose these three releases here below as my favourites. "Aspectral" could be one of the closer EON recordings to extreme slow and morbid harsh noise wall, also called ambient noise wall. This is not the first time EON show its side most ANW, but perhaps the best one. The result are two tracks, fifteen minutes each one, of ultra slow tempo ANW, quite dynamic so non static, but with some changes about textures, sound, speed or intensity. It left still some physical copies on cassette format of this release, so If someone want to buy it can go HERE .

"Basses lueurs"
Year:    2015
Country:    France
City:    Dijon
Artist:    Thomas
Label:    Phalænia
Format:    cassette
Edition:    25 copies
Tracks:    2
Time:    40 min.
Genre:    electronic
Style:                  Dark Ambient

We are again in front of a EON work but this time it is placed very far from harsh noise, and we can to describe this music as dark ambient, with few incursions to noise, but a kind of soft, calm and slow noise. The first track (thirty minutes) is dark ambient not much sinister, and the second track (also thirty minutes more or less), moves into dark ambient, harsh noise and a kind of field recordings which can to remind the sound of wind. Delicate recording which show us how the artist is not just talented to make extreme and solid walls of noise, but also in other experimental music fields.

This is an awesome collaboration with two noise musicians, Thoma (EON) and another "unknown" name, who it seem is a Thoma friend too. This duet work from time to time and got very good results, for example in this one track recording of 2013. The duet use to make with elements like harsh noise and drone, and the result use to sound some kind of: ANW, drone noise, ambient noise.... and similars. So, electronic harsh noise but not static, non-dynamic or "almost dead", but quite alive with a slow or calm tempo.

EON / BDLN is the duo formed occasionally by two french experimental musicians who go by the mysterious monikers Thomas Jaquot and "another" anonymous artist, operate out of the land of cold, wet and ancient city of Dijon, France. It is unsurprising then that the EON´s sounds have been known to create since 2005, and continue to showcase here on "Extratemoral dimensions", are unsettling blends of slow, deep and almost morbid noise, death metal and old dirty industrial music. However, I wouldn’t expect anything else from musicians whose brains may have been completely fried by the unforgiving environment they’ve chosen to call home – and I speak from personal frying experience, having just escaped from another dimension myself. Listen to this album is like driving through a volcano in full eruption and stay static, admiring the beauty of brutality and excessive force that Nature sometimes shows. EON is Mother Nature who complain of human abuse, and his way to complain is by volcanoes, hurricanes or huge tsunamis. An infernal noise that comes from the core of the earth, and operates to crush human pride. That feeling that the human being is the center of the universe and is master of the whole universe. EON joined forces with BDLN to sound even more brutal and devastating. Good and true HNW with little touches of droning textures. Never fast, always slow. Very good result.
