The band's music veered between punk and hard rock on albums including 1989's debut 'Blood Fire and Love', 'Soul Destruction (produced by Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor). In the 90s The Almighty were considered as alternative rock band,, despite their clear hard rock influences. They are still active in Glasgow in Scotland who formed in 1988. Three of the founding members, Ricky Warwick, Stump Monroe and Floyd London were friends who met at school. Although the band members musical roots were in punk rock, The Almighty adopted a more heavy metal or hard rock mainstream oriented musical direction in their early years. Later albums saw the band's musical style move towards the band members' original punk rock roots. Despite they are neither political band nor militant band, The Almighty lyrical themes are usually related to: social issues, conscious, ecologism, pacifism, politics, etc. Until 2018 they have released seven studio albums, two anthologies and one live album. After some periodes of inactivty The Almighty reunited in 2009 until nowadays.
